A Selection of Walks and Views in the Crianlarich Area
The following walk is reached from the Strathfillan Community Woodland car park, approximately three miles west of Crianlarich. There are a variety of options available within the woodland area, in general the entire Community Woodland Walks could comfortably be covered in two hours easy walking. There are no excessive gradients and special footware is not required.
The
West Highland Way section adjacent to Crianlarich is more
demanding in respect of the climb required to access the Way
from the village. However, the rewards are well worth the
extra effort required with exceptional views in every direction
once the high ground is reached. For those who prefer to have
their baggage carried, rather than struggle themselves, we
can recommend A-M-S
as the preferred carrier for a "door to door" service.
The
Scottish Agricultural College has put together an excellent
selection of walks in the area starting from Auchtertyre Farm.
There are a number of hill walks and an excellent leaflet
is produced by the college, freely available at the car park,
explaining the various options available. These walks can
either be treated as self contained, or as an access to the
range of hills to the north and west of Crialarich. Hills
such as Ben Challum can be accessed from the car park. Further
details can be found on the Scottish Agricultural College website.
